Supporting essential workers in NYC

On the frontlines of a COVID-19 global hotspot.

When it hit New York City in the early months of 2020, COVID-19 ripped through local communities and overwhelmed hospital systems. By August, over 200,000 had been infected and at least 20,000 had died.

A group of friends formed the Cura Collective in April of 2020 in response to the pandemic. In recognition of the need to support frontline workers and the communities around them, the Cura Collective aims to support disaster relief by working with local businesses.

Supporting hospitals, families, and local businesses.

Thanks to the generosity of Credit Suisse — who matched all gifts from employees — and private donors, the Cura Collective delivered over 10,000 meals through August to Bellevue Hospital, Lenox Hill Hospital, and NewYork-Presbyterian / Columbia University Medical Center, as well as to essential workers and their families through CitySquash, an after-school program for economically disadvantaged families.

Each $10 meal was made by the kitchens of The NoMad Hotel and Beatstro NYC, giving them the means to bring back workers. Throughout the initiative, the Cura Collective prioritized a sustainable expansion so that the frontline workers and restaurants served could count on consistent, weekly meals and orders.
